Can Tooth Infection Go Away On Its Own?

Posted on 5/22/2023 by Dr. Nick Raptou
Can Tooth Infection Go Away On Its Own?A severe toothache is a primary sign of a tooth infection. The pain occurs due to a bacterial manifestation in your tooth. Like other bacterial infections, seeking treatment is crucial. A tooth infection will not go away on its own, and you will need a dentist's intervention to treat it. Sometimes, the pain from the infected tooth may stop.

Many people think that the infection is no more when this happens. However, the pain stops due to the death of the pulp nerves. The bacteria remain active and spread to other teeth and tissues. If untreated, the infection can spread to the jawbone, soft tissue, and neck or beyond. The good news is that you can prevent tooth infection through the following ways:

Good Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene is the first line of saving you from a dental abscess. Taking care of your teeth will reduce the chances of bacteria growth. You can achieve this by brushing your teeth at least twice a day. Ensure you clean your teeth and gums properly using dental floss. You should also avoid sugar and sticky, starchy foods, which will prevent tooth decay. Remember to replace your toothbrush after every three to four months.

Using Fluoride Toothpaste

Fluoride is an excellent guard against tooth abscesses. It prevents acid formation and mineral loss on your teeth' enamel. Using fluoridated toothpaste, we save you from caries. This way, you will prevent the formation of hubs for bacterial infection. Next time you buy toothpaste, ensure it contains fluoride as one component.

Routine Dental Visits

Many people visit a dentist only when they have a severe dental issue. You will rarely find people considering regular dentist visits. You should not follow their steps. Consider visiting a dentist at least once every six months. This way, you will notice an approaching tooth infection and immediately act. Consider visiting our office for professional dentist advice if you have a tooth infection.
